"Not all of us can do great things.
Yet we can all do small things with great love."
Because Bali, her people and her culture are very close to my heart, I support children in the north of Bali still relatively free of tourism by way of the Holiway Garden Charitable Trust. In the north the children still have no access to decent education! Good schools are only for the privileged few. We have developed amongst other things a bursary fund, a sponsor programme which enables individual children and young people to have a better future. We know each sponsored child and their families personally.
On this highly touristic island, it is essential for children and young people to be fluent in English to ensure good job prospects. For this reason, around 80 village children are tutored in English every week at the Holiway Garden Resort. Each lesson is 'paid for' by one rucksack full of collected plastic rubbish. In this way, the children also cultivate an awareness for nature and the environment.
We believe in one world, in togetherness regardless of religion, skin colour or race, and the responsibility towards less fortunate people, for Mother Earth and the natural world. Together we are stronger. Together we can make the world a better place.
